Construction on a new 25,000-square-foot shooting range is set to begin the first week of October at 415 Industrial Blvd., McKinney.

WB Kibler Construction will renovate the area to debut The Range in McKinney, a new stop for shooting training, education, retail, gunsmith services, and corporate and social events, a news release stated. In July 2020 McKinney City Council had approved a permit for Thom and Julie Beyer to bring their vision for The Range in McKinney to life.

The live-fire shooting range will include 18 climate-controlled and lead-filtering shooting lanes with a distance of 25 yards, as well as 3,000 square feet of space for retail, firearm rentals, a gunsmith, and classrooms where National Rifle Association-certified instructors will teach training courses and private lessons. A kitchen will also be available for indoor events.

An additional feature The Range in McKinney will offer will be the Firearms Training System, a simulation room provided by InVeris Training Solutions. The system will display a 300-degree, realistic three-dimensional indoor and outdoor range that can support multiple, simultaneous training sessions for up to five participants at a time.

The Range in McKinney will also have virtual law enforcement systems with marksmanship and training modes for law enforcement, individuals and private groups.

“The mission of The Range in McKinney is to provide a family-friendly environment for new and experienced firearms enthusiasts who want to learn about, practice and enjoy the sport of shooting,” the news release stated.

The Range in McKinney is expected to open in summer 2022 after eight months of construction. www.therangeinmckinney.com
