The Comedy Arena, located at 305 E. Virginia St., Ste. 104, in downtown McKinney, is looking to double its size with an upcoming renovation and expansion project. The comedy club, which occupies the first floor, will expand into the floor above it and become a two-story venue. The stage and box office, in addition to two new restrooms, will be located upstairs. These updates will also include a bar, lounge area and cafe on the first floor. Owner Von Daniel said this renovation is a direct result of community feedback, which includes customers' request to have food and drinks at the venue. Now that will be available, he said. The comedy club is a venue for all types of comedy shows, including standup and improvisation, and it also offers comedy classes. Daniel said the renovations should be complete by summer, and the club is expected to remain open during construction. 214-769-0645. www.thecomedyarena.com
