Parkhill Frisco may be hired for additional work in planning a proposed recreation center in north McKinney.

McKinney City Council members are expected to vote on a resolution authorizing another contract with Parkhill at an upcoming April 7 meeting. If approved, Parkhill would conduct a feasibility study for the recreation center that will coincide with master site planning services the firm is already providing.
The feasibility study would include visioning, local recreation market analysis, community engagement and development of a project budget for the recreation center, according to a city document. The action being considered by council would authorize up to $150,000 for the contract.

Council members approved the purchase of 110.42 acres from McKinney ISD in January for the project. City officials intend to develop a “multigenerational” recreation center and water pump station on the land.
City officials are currently planning for development of a new recreation center and water pump station at the site.

Council members will also consider authorizing a letter of intent to enter exclusive negotiations with Parkhill to lead and develop a “landmark sports and entertainment complex” on 300 acres in north McKinney. If approved, it will authorize the city manager to enter an exclusive negotiating period with Parkhill for up to 180 days.
In December, council members adopted guiding principles for the project. City officials issued a request for qualifications to find a development partner, according to a city document.
