McKinney City Council will consider a zoning request for apartments in north McKinney at an upcoming meeting.
The setup
Council members are meeting for a work session and regular meeting March 17 at McKinney City Hall. The regular meeting agenda includes two zoning requests for consideration. The first is a multifamily zoning request for new apartments along CR 161.
McKinney’s Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the zoning request in February. If approved by council, more than 37 acres located along CR 161 in north McKinney would be zoned for multifamily uses. Council members will also consider annexation of the property alongside the zoning request.
The second is a request to rezone about 11 acres of land at 2906 Woodlawn Road for light industrial uses, according to a city document. McKinney’s Planning and Zoning Commission also recommended approval of the request in February.
Also on the agenda
Council’s work session agenda includes a discussion about traffic control at the intersection of Glen Oaks Drive and Ridge Road. City staff are recommending installation of a roundabout or traffic signal to serve existing and future traffic volumes, according to a city document.
The intersection currently operates as a four-way stop with stop signs posted at four corners.
