The trash collection schedule in McKinney is being shifted this week due to road conditions, according to city officials.

Trash collection was postponed Jan. 26 and Jan. 27. City officials expect trash collection to resume Jan. 28, and all routes will be completed Wednesday through Saturday, Public Relations Manager Denise Lessard said in an email. Recycling will not be collected this week. Residents who experience excessive recycling accumulation may place those materials in bags along their recycling containers for collection next week, Lessard said. Commercial trash service is also expected to resume Jan. 28.

City officials began announcing modifications to city services and facilities last week ahead of an arctic cold front that reached North Texas over the weekend. Facilities expected to remain closed Tuesday include the John and Judy Gay Library and McKinney City Hall, which is closed to in-person business.
