In a nutshell
The recreation center is reopening with renovated restrooms, new conference room space, a new fitness room and additional parking. Jenny Baker, the parks, planning and development director for McKinney, included the project in a Nov. 18 presentation to McKinney City Council.
Her presentation included updates on 21 active parks projects representing almost $200 million invested in parks and trail improvements across McKinney.
Officials are also celebrating the opening of the Light Walk at Towne Lake on the same day. The new trail experience features a concrete trail with colorful and experiential permanent lighting, according to McKinney’s website.
“[We] haven’t done anything like this in the past, so we’re very excited to bring this one to the community,” Baker said.
Both ribbon cuttings are scheduled for Dec. 3. For more information, visit www.mckinneytexas.org/calendar.aspx?EID=33998.
One more thing
The McKinney Greens Park project is also nearing completion, Baker said. Parks officials expect construction to wrap up on the project by the end of November or in early December.
McKinney Greens, located at 920 Stewart Road, will open with a new playground and pavilion, walking trails, parking and a pond overlook, according to Baker’s presentation.
