Looking for fun ways to get active? Here is a roundup of 5K races and fun runs around the Dallas-Fort Worth area in November and December. This list is not comprehensive.

1. North Texas Hotdog 5K Race

This 5K event features multiple divisions, including regular men’s and women’s divisions, as well as the hot dog division, in which participants will need to eat a hot dog after each mile completed in the race.2. Trails and Tacos 15K, 5K

This event will include both a 5K and 15K race, and tacos will be available for participants. This McKinney Running Club event will benefit the Dan Crum Memorial Scholarship Fund through the McKinney Education Foundation.3. Gobble Hobble Turkey Trot

The city of Richardson is hosting the 20th annual Gobble Hobble Turkey Trot. Registration and on-site packet pickup begin at 7 a.m. The event includes both a timed 5K and a 1-mile family fun run, as well as a fun zone with games and a photo booth.4. Plano Turkey Trot


The eighth annual Plano Turkey Trot will include a 5K run or walk, a children’s division fun run for ages 11 and under, and a children’s 100-meter dash for ages 8 and under. Runners can enjoy doughnuts from Shipley Do-Nuts at the finish line.5. Scheels North Texas Turkey Trot

This downtown Frisco event will include a 5K race, a 10K race and a Miracle Mile fun run. The event will benefit the Miracle League of Frisco.6. Believe McKinney 5K and fun run

The proceeds of this year’s 5K and 1-mile fun run event will benefit two McKinney organizations: Alliance of Elite Youth Leadership and Holy Family School. Prior to the race start, a Santa Chase event will be held at 8 a.m. for children ages 12 and under.7. Santa Scurry 5K

This evening event, which is coupled with the Keller Holly Days event, includes a 5K as well as a youth 5K race for children ages 12 and under.8. Reindeer Run


This event, hosted by the Flower Mound Rotary, is part of the Town Christmas program and includes a 5K run as well as a 1-mile Grinch Sprint run for children. The 5K is stroller-capable, and holiday attire is encouraged.9. Chasin’ Christmas

This holiday-themed event will include both a 5K and 10K, as well as a new children’s sprint event.10. Reindeer Romp 5K

The 18th annual event will include holiday entertainment such as live reindeer and hot chocolate in addition to a 5K race and 1-mile fun run. The event at Alliance Airport benefits the Northwest ISD elementary schools' physical education departments.
