A runoff election that will determine the race for McKinney Mayor and the At-Large 1 seat on McKinney City Council will be held June 7.

Polling locations will open May 27 for the first day of early voting which will run through June 3 ahead of election day. Read further for more information on polling locations and the candidates that will be listed on the ballot.

Where to vote

Eight polling locations will be open in McKinney during early voting. A ninth location will be open only on election day.

  • John & Judy Gay Library, 6861 W. Eldorado Parkway
  • McKinney City Hall, 401 E. Virginia St.
  • McKinney Fire Station #5, 6600 Virginia Parkway
  • McKinney Fire Station #7, 861 Independence Parkway
  • McKinney Fire Station #9, 4900 Summit View Drive
  • McKinney Fire Station #10, 1150 Olympic Crossing
  • Senior Recreation Center, 1400 S. College St. (election day only)

Polling locations will open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. between May 27 and May 31. Polls will be closed June 1 and will reopen from 7 a.m.-7p.m. June 2 and June 3. On election day, polls will open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

On the ballot

The runoff election ballot will feature the following candidates:


McKinney City Council, Mayor
  • Bill Cox
  • Scott Sanford
According to final election results from Collin County, Cox received 8,957 votes, representing 46.78% of votes cast and Sanford received 7,813 votes, representing 40.81% of votes cast. Neither candidate received more than 50% of the total votes cast which was the threshold required to win the four-candidate race.

McKinney City Council, At Large 1
  • Ernest Lynch
  • Jim Garrison
Lynch received 5,027 votes, representing 29.33% of votes cast and Garrison received 3,422, representing 19.97% of votes cast. The race featured five candidates and also required more than 50% of votes cast to win.
