The context

Four candidates were in the primary race to earn the Republican bid for the District 12 seat, including Little as well as Chad Green, Jamie Kohlmann and Matt Rostami.

The race moved to a runoff election following the March primary election, where none of the four candidates received a majority of the nearly 175,000 votes cast. Little received 36.38% of the votes cast in that election, and Kohlmann received 27.04% of votes cast. Opponents Chad Green and Matt Rostami received 20.27% and 16.32% of votes cast, respectively, and did not advance to the runoff election.

Little defeated Kohlmann, earning nearly 51% of the over 60,000 votes cast and earned the Republican bid to face Democratic candidate George King in the general election.

King had no challengers in the Democratic primaries.
