Republican State Rep. Jeff Leach has retained his seat in the Texas Legislature, according to final unofficial vote totals from Collin County.

Leach defeated Democrat Makala L. Washington, who challenged in the race for Texas state representative District 67. The incumbent Leach received 55,918 votes, 60.32%, compared to Washington, who received 36,787 votes, 39.68%.

Vote totals are unofficial until they are canvassed.

Incumbent Republican state Rep. Jeff Leach is ahead of Democrat Makala L. Washington in the race for Texas state representative District 67, according to unofficial results from Collin County.

Leach has received 54,246 votes, 60.45%, compared to Washington’s 35,493 votes, 39.55%.

Republican incumbent State Rep. Jeff Leach still leads Democrat challenger Makala L. Washington in the race for Texas state representative District 67.


Leach has garnered 52,322 votes, or 60.67% of the votes, while Washington has received 33,924 votes, or 39.33% of the votes.

Based on unofficial voting totals, Leach has received 50,545 votes, 60.83%, compared to Washington’s 32,548 votes, 39.17%.

Collin County has released early voting totals for the race for District 67 on the Texas House of Representatives.

According to unofficial early voting results, Leach leads the race with 47,983 votes, or 60.86% of all early votes cast. Washington received 30,863 votes, or 39.14%, during early voting.

What else?

Leach is seeking his seventh term as a state representative.

In early voting, there were 439,684 ballots cast countywide, which represents 58.48% of Collin County's 751,832 registered voters.


Totals from ballots cast Nov. 5 have yet to be released. Polls closed at 7 p.m., although voters who were in line at 7 p.m. were still able to cast ballots.
