The McKinney Education Foundation awarded $825,150 in scholarships to McKinney ISD 2024 graduating seniors—the largest amount in the foundation’s history.

The scholarships were awarded to 380 students and celebrated during the foundation's Scholarship Awards Celebration held May 1, according to a news release from the organization.

"For years, the McKinney Education Foundation has been a crucial partner with McKinney ISD in fulfilling our mission to support our students' educational aspirations," MISD Superintendent Shawn Pratt said during the celebration.

Looking back

The McKinney Education Foundation supports the district through student scholarships and educational grants. It also provides college advisors at each of MISD’s high schools to assist students with guidance and resources for higher education.

Since being founded in 1991, the foundation has awarded over 7,000 MISD students with scholarships totaling $10 million. The foundation’s college advisors have also helped students earn nearly $250 million in external scholarships, the release stated.

The foundation provided 363 students in the 2023 graduating class with scholarships totaling $637,500.

The foundation’s CEO Sheila Due thanked parents and community members who have helped MISD students access scholarship opportunities during the ceremony.

“It is through your commitment to McKinney and education that has fulfilled the dreams of thousands of students, and for that, we are truly grateful," Due said.
