El Pollo Loco is slated to open Jan. 12 in west McKinney, according to onsite signage.

The eatery, which was founded in 1975 in Mexico, serves burrito bowls, tostadas, salads, quesadillas, nachos and more.

“Chicken should be marinated and it should be grilled on an open flame,” the company website states. “That’s why our chicken is marinated in citrus and spices, and grilled to perfection on an open flame. Every day, in every restaurant.”

The 2,249-square-foot building, which was built in 2018, was formerly an Arby’s, according to leasing documents.
