Mi Cocina is set to open a location in the District 121 development June 26, according to a news release.

The restaurant, owned by M Crowd Restaurant Group, will offer its signature dishes, including brisket tacos and the Mambo Taxi margarita. The menu also includes fajitas, enchiladas, brunch items and other Tex-Mex dishes, according to the restaurant’s website.

“[McKinney] is growing; now that the Byron Nelson [golf tournament] is out there, it really lines up with the consumers we have across the metroplex,” said Edgar Guevara, president and CEO of M Crowd Restaurant Group.

The restaurant will join the recently opened Bob’s Steak and Chop House in the District 121 development at the northeast corner of SH 121 and Alma Road. Other restaurants slated to open at District 121 include The Common Table, a sports bar and craft kitchen concept, as well as 400 Gradi, an Italian restaurant.

Mi Cocina’s first McKinney location will have a contemporary design with 20-foot ceilings, including a downstairs bar as well as an upstairs bar overlooking the dining room, according to the release. The space will also feature artwork from Mexican artist Luis Sottil and wooden wall installations by Peter Glassford.

“We don’t build any restaurant to look the same; they’re all different; they’re all unique, and we build them to fit the community,” Guevara said.

The location, which will employ more than 100 people, is the company’s 23rd location with other restaurants in both Texas and Oklahoma, according to the release. The first Mi Cocina location opened in Dallas in 1991.
