New year, new menu and new patio—that is what the owners of Henderson Kitchen & Tap plan to do in 2019.

The family-friendly sports bar underwent new ownership in October.

“We saw the establishment, liked the location, the ambience and the feel,” Vice President of Operations Divyash Patel said. “We think it has potential for growth. [There was] growth before, and for whatever reason [the restaurant] is not in the view of the public, so we need to get out there to say, ‘Hey, we’re trying to turn it around into what [the community] wants to see in an establishment,’ where they can come enjoy food and drink and watch games.”

The owners said they are planning to roll out a new menu, add a second patio with fire pits, improve customer service and continue being involved in the community.

Henderson Kitchen & Tap opened in March 2017 on Central Expressway near Eldorado Parkway in McKinney because the market called for a bar and tap establishment in the area, Patel said.

The restaurant became known for its wood-fired pizzas made with a secret pizza sauce recipe from General Manager and Operating Partner Bryan Jagielski’s grandma.

In addition to pizza, Henderson serves sandwiches, burgers, milkshakes, cocktails and more.

The new menu, which will come out in January, will continue offering Henderson staples but will offer more simple comfort foods, Patel said.

“One of the biggest things we’ve done recently ... is focus on quality,” he said.

The new owners also plan to host more events and have started by hosting Tuesday and Sunday night poker tournaments. Other events, such as local school fundraisers, spirit nights, watch parties and private parties for 40-50 guests are also available, Jagielski said.

“[Henderson is a place] where family and friends can come together,” Vice President of Strategy and Finance Hemanth Kumar said. “It’s not like a regular sports bar. … It’s more for the family.”
