Officials from Venu, the owner and developer of the amphitheater, shared the new project renderings along with details of technology planned to be integrated within the facility in an Oct. 16 news release.
The $300 million project, which was announced in March 2024, will bring a 20,000-seat entertainment venue to McKinney.
The gist
The multiseason design enables the outdoor amphitheater facility to be used year-round for live entertainment and events, the release states.
A variety of technology and features will be included in the venue to enable the multiseason approach, the release states, including:
- Wind wall technology: Reduces harsh winds while helping to control temperature and contain sound within the venue
- Canopied roof structure: Offers protection from rain and harsh weather while maintaining the open-air venue style
- Integrated radiant heating systems: Provide consistent warmth during winter months
- Multiconfiguration staging: Enables the operator to adapt the facility depending on event size, spanning from full-capacity productions to smaller events
“We set out to create more than amphitheaters—these venues redefine the very meaning of premium in live music,” said Jeff Crocker, owner and project lead at BCA Studios Architects, in the release. “Every detail, from the structural engineering to the guest amenities, is being considered through the lens of fan experience.”
Quote of note
“These multi-season amphitheaters represent the future of live entertainment,” Venu’s founder, chairman and CEO J.W. Roth said in the release. “By eliminating weather as a barrier to great concerts, we’re able to deliver more shows, attract bigger artists and provide fans with unforgettable experiences every month of the year. This is a true game-changer for the industry and for the communities we serve.”
Looking ahead
The McKinney amphitheater will be located on a 46-acre site at the northeast corner of US 75 and SH 121. The facility, which will feature 20,000 seats and over 5,000 parking spaces, will include luxury fire pit suites and the exclusive members-only Aikman Club.
A groundbreaking was held for the project in July, and the facility is expected to open in 2026, the release states.
