Spec’s Wines, Spirits & Fine Foods is set to open a second McKinney liquor store in 2026, State Retail Operations Manager Jake Duke said.

“We’re excited about it—it’s going to be a great addition for McKinney customers,” Duke said in an email.

The details

The liquor store sells a variety of alcoholic beverages, including wines, beers and seltzers, the company website states. Spirits, including bourbon, whiskey, gin, rum and more are also sold at Spec’s.

Spec’s Wines, Spirits & Fine Foods, which now has over 200 locations across Texas, was founded in 1962 in Houston by Carroll B. “Spec” Jackson and Carolynn Jackson, the company's website states.

“‘Spec’ Jackson wanted to work for himself and make enough money so Carolynn wouldn’t have to work,” the company website states. “The store’s name, Spec’s, originated from his nickname that referred to his spectacles. ‘Spec’ Jackson spent $7,000 to open his first store.”

A Spec’s opened in Nov. 2024 in McKinney at 2900 W. University Drive, Ste. 100.
