The gist
The store, a franchise of the Wisconsin-based company, offers a variety of handcrafted and adjustable mattresses made locally, Franchise Owner Jake Tomes said.
Tomes opened the business’s Dallas factory in spring of 2024, and opened his first retail store in Dallas in August of that same year. The McKinney store is the second retail location for Tomes, who is committed to bringing five Verlo Mattress locations to North Texas, he said.

The store offers five mattress collections, as well as custom mattress sizes and shapes that can be made to fit in spaces such as RVs and custom bed frames.
Mattresses sold at the store are built at the Dallas factory and are assembled with a zipper cover that allows for comfort adjustments to the mattress. Customization options also include separate comfort levels within a mattress, Verlo Mattress Manager Bryce Waters said. The business also offers a lifetime comfort guarantee.
“Every mattress is made with American products and it's made locally with our own comfort coaches,” Waters said. “The people that actually sell the mattresses are involved in the building process.”
In addition to mattresses, other products sold include mattresses accessories such as adjustable bases and box springs, as well as. The business offers pillows and bedding, including Cozy Earth bamboo sheets and products, Tomes said.
Mattresses at the store start at $199 and can range up to sale prices of $3,999, Tomes said, noting that the business is able to offer lower prices when compared to competitors due to lowered supply chain costs. Financing options available include Snap Finance, Affirm and Synchrony.
Also of note
Tomes said he was looking to introduce the brand to a market north of Dallas, and that the growth along the US 380 corridor drew him to McKinney.
“I thought this would be an ideal location to be kind of a hub of lifestyle shopping, with the Whole Foods, the Sephora, the restaurants, the residential housing that's going in behind that development,” Tomes said of the West Grove development. “I thought this would just be a great location to build brand awareness in a new community.”
Get involved
A grand opening celebration for the store is planned for 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Nov. 15. The event will include music, food, photo opportunities, prizes and giveaways, including a package for a slumber party at the Verlo Mattress store.
A ribbon cutting is planned for 5 p.m., and a giveaway of a mattress will follow.
