Members of the community, including city leaders, business owners, representatives of the Allen Chamber of Commerce and more, gathered at the retail center for a 25th anniversary ribbon-cutting ceremony as well as a performance by the Allen High School Varsity Drumline.
The specifics
The shopping center opened in October 2000 with a roster of retailers that has continued to grow, according to a news release. The outlets saw an expansion completed in 2018 that included additional retail space and amenities.
Over 120 name-brand outlet stores can be found in the center now, including brands like Kate Spade New York, Coach, Nike Factory Store, Under Armour and more. Allen Premium Outlets also hosts various annual events, and supports community organizations including Allen ISD and the Allen Foundation for Schools, the release states.
“This center is one of the most important developments in our city's history, and just to think 25 years ago ... we would be standing in a field that would one day become the number one economic driver for the entire city,” Mayor Pro Tem Ben Trahan said at the ribbon-cutting event.
Trahan said the center has created jobs, supported thousands of businesses and attracted millions of visitors in its 25-year tenure.
