Candy and sweets shop Pinkitzel is opening soon in downtown McKinney.

The shop will be the first Texas location for the business, which has two other stores in Oklahoma, and will occupy a space that formerly housed the showroom for interior design business Homeology.

The details

The shop is owned by Jonathan and Christa Jantz, who opened an Oklahoma City store in 2010, and another location later opened in Edmond, Oklahoma. Pinkitzel offers a variety of sweet treats including mix and match bulk candy, saltwater taffy, gourmet chocolates, rock candy, lollipops and more, its website states.

Other sweet treats available include cupcakes, cakes, macarons and truffles, and the shop also sells other merchandise such as gifts for men, women and children.

“We are a cupcake and candy store inspired by Willy Wonka and Marie Antoniette,” Jonathan Jantz said of the business.

Diving in deeper

The McKinney store will also feature a 20-person party room that can be used for a variety of events for both adults and children, including tea parties, cupcake decorating parties, baby showers, bridal parties and more.

Offerings unique to the McKinney location include drop-in cupcake decorating without a reservation, as well as a charm bar where guests can create their own charm bracelet or necklace, Jonathan Jantz said.

The business owners have considered opening a store in McKinney for many years, and recently finalized the plan, Jonathan Jantz said.

“We just love McKinney and think it's a very special place,” he said.

Quote of note

“Pinkitzel is a spin on two words, pink and kitzel, which means ‘tickled’ in Yiddish, so we are literally tickled pink,” the company’s website states.
