The details
In the summer of 2024, Markita Pollard opened The Wildflower Production House in The McKinney Flour Mill. In November, Pollard moved the business to downtown McKinney.
The business offers concierge services and ambient experiences provided by a collection of creatives, who Pollard calls Wildflowers, and by Pollard—also a Wildflower—who has over 20 years of experience as a makeup artist.
“I realized that all these people have all these hidden talents, and it just bloomed,” Pollard said. “They don’t need to be perfect—like an orchid or rose—every individual has a wild aspect to them.”
What they offer
Pollard said the top three requested services at The Wildflower Production House are makeup artistry, sound baths and assorted classes.
Pollard is the primary makeup artist. She said most of her customers request bridal or editorial makeup for productions.
“It's really about the experience, I'm very big about listening to the client. I might say, ‘I'm going to do your makeup like you're going to the beach,’—they love that.” Pollard said.
Like all services at The Wildflower Production House, sound baths are available both on-site and off-site. Sound baths, which utilize crystal sound bowls tuned to different frequencies, are led by Pollard or another Wildflower.
“Sound baths ... are a way for the mind to go offline so the body can rest, reset and just release,” Pollard said. “I'm very big about letting go and being in the power of now—It's a guided meditation. We bring you awareness and slow down your breath, and then before you know it ... you're pretty much asleep.”
The Wildflower Production House calendar features a combination of weekly events and less-frequent events including writing sessions, candle making, tea making, cross-stiching, astrology, book club, makeup artistry, cacao ceremony and more.
What else?
In addition to services and experiences, The Wildflower Production House also sells items from local artists including jewelry, artwork and more.
Other services offered by the Wildflowers include hair styling, wardrobe styling, copywriting and photography.
Going forward
Within five years, Pollard plans to open other locations and each new location will have a different wildflower incorporated into the name reflective of the specific geographical area.
“The big goal is to do barndominiums, which are built with shipping containers,” Pollard said. “Each [Wildflower] has their own room and the bottom floor is essentially used for sound baths, events and weddings.”
