An opening date has been set for a new Costco Wholesale store that is debuting in Allen.

The store located just south of McKinney will open its doors 8 a.m., Aug. 15, according to signage at the location. The wholesale store offers its members grocery products, pharmacy products, automotive services and more, according to its website.

The specifics

The Allen store is located on a roughly 22.5-acre site, city documents state. The store will span 160,000 square feet and is estimated to cost $25 million, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, or TDLR.

Allen City Council members unanimously approved a specific use permit to allow the Costco to feature a fueling station with up to 32 fueling locations at a July 2024 meeting. Another TDLR filing notes that the fueling station will span over 11,500 square feet and cost $5 million.


The context

The store is one of three new Costco locations in North Texas. A location in Prosper opened in March, and another Costco store is expected to open in Celina later this year.
