Jim Franks, president of Church of God, a Worldwide Association, which is headquartered in McKinney, said planning for a new education center began over two years ago.

“Our plans were completed earlier this year and have now been submitted to the city for final approval,” Franks said in an email.

Construction is slated to begin in August, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The new education center, which is scheduled for completion in summer 2026, will feature an auditorium and seating for 500 people, Franks said.

“We need more space for our growing media department, our nine-month school for biblical education—Foundation Institute, Center for Biblical Education— and for annual conferences ... and local church services,” Franks said. “All our education programs will be centered in the new facility.”

The backstory

Franks said this church can trace their origin back to the first century and their modern history goes back to 1933 and Herbert Armstrong.

“We formed a new organization in December of 2010 and moved our world headquarters to Texas in 2012,” Franks said. “We have 270 congregations worldwide in more than 40 countries.”
