Perfume studio Expressive Aromas is set to relocate from its current East McKinney location, owner Bharvi Soni said.

The shop, which opened in early 2024, will soon occupy a storefront in Historic Downtown McKinney.

What they offer

At Expressive Aromas, clients are able to build their signature scent as a perfume or add it to a number of other products, including body butter, whipped soap, goat milk lotion, beard oil and more. The custom scents are built using single fragrance notes and contain fewer additives, Soni said.

The business, currently located in a 500-square-foot space inside the McKinney Flour Mill, offers perfume-making classes, workshops and parties. Classes are available at the studio as well as in a mobile format, Soni said.

The update

The shop’s new 2,000-square-foot location on North Kentucky Street will allow the store to offer custom fragrance making experiences for individuals and small groups, including walk-in clients, while also selling handmade retail fragrances. The new space will also include a private event room.

“We fell in love with the charm of downtown McKinney, it’s just such a good area with great pedestrian traffic,” Soni said in an email of the relocation. “The [support] from downtown McKinney to all their local small businesses is one of the many factors we chose to stay in McKinney.”

The shop will remain open in the McKinney Flour Mill location through June, and is accepting workshops by appointment. The new location is under construction and Soni said she expects it to debut in July. A grand opening event will be held, but a date has not been determined, she said.
