Customer Service Manager Deona Kim describes the clothing brand, which started with children’s apparel and has grown to include adult sizes, as being comfortable and soft.
“What we do is more gender neutral—boys or girls can wear it,” Kim said. “We do a lot of solids, and we have some prints and graphic tees that can interchange and work with our other launches.”
A family member of Brittani Little, founder and CEO of Little Bipsy, moved to Texas from Washington and suggested Little open a storefront in downtown McKinney, but the entrepreneur realized what they really needed was a larger warehouse, leading to the opening of the McKinney facility.
The backstory
After noticing what she deemed a void in the clothing industry for high quality children’s apparel, Little opened Little Bipsy in 2017 in Washington, Kim said.
One of the factors that led to Little opening a warehouse and storefront in McKinney in 2022 is that Texas is more centralized than Washington, which makes shipping the business’s apparel more time and cost efficient, Kim said.
What’s in a name?
Little’s grandfather gave her the nickname of “Little Bipsy” when she was a child.
“When she was able to finally achieve her dream and open up Little Bipsy, that's what she decided the name of the company should be,” Kim said.
The specifics
In addition to the core product line which includes black and heather grey hoodies, crewnecks, joggers, rompers, shorts and denim items, new products are made available every two weeks.
“We have some neons for summer, we did sage green and light blues in our Salt and Sea Collection, and we have our USA collection,” Kiim said. “We have some fun little palm trees and checks coming up later this season and we’ve done a few ombre collections, but the majority of our items are solids.”
Kim said customers can visit the showroom to shop before new lines are available for online purchase.
“Customers have early access to those launches in this showroom. Sometimes it's a week before the launch, sometimes it's a couple days before the launch, but I normally post that on our [Little Bipsy] Facebook Texas page,” Kim said. “Brittani does a lot of Instagram stories—sneak peeks. People who were waiting for an item can go to McKinney, versus having to wait for it to be put online.”
What else?
The majority of Little Bipsy inventory is stored in the McKinney warehouse, however, a small warehouse is at the company headquarters in Everett, Washington.
McKinney warehouse staff includes fulfillment team members who handle picking and packing orders, and inventory team members who process and shelve new inventory. The customer service team and data analyst also work at the McKinney location.
“Brenda Spenser, who is the vice president of Texas operations, felt strongly about cross training so that anyone could help,” Kim said. “The customer service team knows how to pick and pack orders, so if it gets really busy during a sale we can go and help out.”
The impact
In 2024, representatives of Little Bipsy’s McKinney warehouse donated new clothing to 31 local nonprofits, which Kim said lines up with the company’s vision statement: “to be God’s love in action.”
Nonprofit recipients include maternity homes for homeless women, child advocacy centers, foster care closets and more. Kim said customers appreciate the community mindfulness the company exhibits.
“People come for the comfort, coziness and soft fabrics, but then they're like ‘Wow! I really love your mission, and I want to continue to shop here’,” Kim said.
