Insurance company Globe Life is expected to relocate its corporate headquarters in McKinney.
The company, currently located in west McKinney at 3700 S. Stonebridge Drive, will move into the former headquarters of Independent Financial in the Craig Ranch area, a Feb. 3 news release states.
The gist
The company acquired the 200,000-square-foot, six-story Class AA office building at 7677 Henneman Way from seller SouthState Bank, the release states.
The building was developed in 2022 and is the former headquarters of Independent Financial, which was acquired by SouthState Bank in a $2 billion deal in May 2024. The acquisition also includes two developable tracts totaling roughly 9.3 acres adjacent to the building.
The building will see exterior Globe Life signage added, the release states. The existing building features amenities such as secured parking, a fitness center, food and beverage centers, and a 350-person conference center.
The context
Globe Life and its predecessors have been in existence for over 100 years. The company offers life insurance policies, as well as supplemental health insurance products and Medicare supplement insurance plans, its website states.
The Globe Life family of companies has more than 17 million life insurance policies in force, which is more than any other life insurance in the country, the company’s website states. The company’s coverage in force totals over $227 billion.
The impact
The relocation allows the company to retain over 2,000 jobs in McKinney, and support plans to continue growing its workforce in the area.
The additional developable land included in the acquisition is also expected to support future growth by the company, the release states.

"This move represents our commitment to continued growth initiatives, to providing the highest level of service to our customers, and our investment in the future of Globe Life and our employees."
