The city’s newest car dealership, BMW of McKinney, is now open.

The details

BMW of McKinney offers new BMW vehicles as well as certified and pre-owned cars, according to its website. Over 400 cars and trucks are available on the dealership’s lot, a press release stated.

The dealership spans over 70,000-square-feet on a 14.5-acre site on the west side of US 75, just south of Wilmeth Road. The site of the dealership was chosen due to the population growth in McKinney and surrounding areas, he said.

“This is like a dream destination for a dealership,” General Manager Johnny Secondo said.

Amenities offered for customers include coffee and snack bars, work stations with Wi-Fi and electric vehicle charging stations. The dealership also features a retail store with BMW apparel and accessories.

“I love the layout,” Secondo said. “Customers ... waiting for service are able to walk through the dealership and see 18 new cars and ... M Sport vehicles right there in the showroom. It just looks really sharp.”

The dealership is the second BMW franchise in Texas owned by Hendrick Automotive Group, largest privately held automotive retail organization in the country. The North Carolina-based company operates more than 90 dealerships in the U.S. including Honda Cars of McKinney, which opened in 1987.

“For 37 years, we’ve enjoyed a terrific relationship with the people of McKinney,” Chairman and CEO Rick Hendrick said in the release. “Our new facility will allow us to support this growing, vibrant community and offer customers a truly world-class experience. With easy access to [SH 75] and [US 380], the location is very convenient for BMW’s rapidly growing customer base in north Dallas. We’re pleased to open our doors and invite everyone to see what we have to offer.”

Diving deeper

Secondo, who has been with Hendrick Automotive Group for 15 years, said that in addition to automotive sales, the new dealership has a “huge emphasis” on service.

The facility includes 47 service bays, two advanced alignment machines and a climate-controlled service drive, the release stated. Of the 60 jobs created to support the dealership’s operations, 25 were for service technicians.

“47 bays is one of the largest service areas for any BMW store in the country,” Secondo said. “We want to make sure that we are well prepared for the traffic.”

The dealership offers repair and replacement services as well as routine maintenance, such as:
  • Oil changes
  • Filter changes
  • Tire rotations and replacements
  • Battery inspections and replacements
“We just want to be great partners with McKinney,” Secondo said. “We want to grow our business and the only way that you can grow your business is taking care of people.”

Quote of note

“We're just excited about providing an amazing service and having BMW available to people in this area,” Secondo said. “Rather than having to go all the way into Dallas, Plano or Grapevine, they're able to have it right here in their backyard.”
