The McKinney Farmers Market at Chestnut Square will open every Saturday for the upcoming fall and winter seasons for the first time in 15 years, according to a news release.

Vendors of the McKinney Farmers Market at Chestnut Square voted to approve the events calendar for the upcoming months and opted to open the market every Saturday, according to a news release. In previous years, the market reduced its schedule to two markets a month from December-March.

The market, located at 315 S. Chestnut St., McKinney, regularly operates from 8 a.m.-noon on Saturdays, but will be open with reduced hours from 9 a.m.-noon from January-March 2023. There will also be no farmers market on Dec. 24 due to the Christmas Eve holiday.

The McKinney Farmers Market at Chestnut Square was voted the second-best farmers market in Texas, according to a poll conducted by American Farmland Trust. The market welcomes as many as 75 vendors and 2,000 visitors each week, Chestnut Square Executive Director Jaymie Pedigo said.

Other upcoming events at Chestnut Square include the monthly Trolley Tours, the Legends of McKinney Ghost Walk on Oct. 28 and 29, and the annual Holiday Home Tours on Dec. 3 and 4. The Dec. 17 farmers market will also include a special holiday market event called “Christmas in the Village” and will feature a variety of family holiday activities, according to a news release.
