Northern Tool and AutoZone will open in east McKinney at the Virginia Square Shopping Center on the northeast corner of US 75 and W. Virginia Parkway, according to a news release. The stores are expected to open mid-2023, according to Judi Sambol, a representative of JAH Realty.

The space, totaling about 40,000 square feet, was previously occupied by Super One Foods and Brookshire’s. The building will undergo renovations this fall to split the previous grocery store into two retail spaces, as well as to raise the roof and renovate the exterior facade.

Northern Tool sells a variety of tools, parts and machinery, including both national brands and Northern Tool manufactured items, according to its website. AutoZone is a “leading retailer” of automotive replacement parts and accessories, according to its website.

“Backfilling a former grocery box into multiple tenants is always a challenging process, but we are very pleased with our outcome here,” William Rosatti, vice president of leasing at JAH Realty, said in a news release.
