The details
The sculpture stands more than 25 feet tall and is made from metal, steel and acrylic. It features floral plants native to Texas including poppies, Indian paintbrushes and primrose.
The installation was commissioned by McKinney Main Street and the McKinney Arts Commission, and designed by Dallas-based artist Alli Koch, founder of Alli K Design.
"As the city embraces new developments and changes, this flower sculpture symbolizes that growth, renewal and the beauty of new beginnings,” Koch said in a statement. “Each flower in the roundabout symbolizes an aspect of constant evolution, celebrating the beauty of never-ending growth and the resilience of creativity."
Also of note
James Bresnahan, property manager of the McKinney Flour Mill, said he saw the sculpture when it was being installed. Koch also designed and painted a floral-themed mural along the Flour Mill’s foundation fronting Louisiana Street.
Bresnahan said Koch did a great job with the mural and the sculpture. The floral theme works well with the Flour Mill, a wedding venue, and fits in with the area’s rustic surroundings, he said.
“It’s a beautiful floral design showing life on our side of town,” he said.
