The CJ Cup Byron Nelson golf tournament is returning in May to TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney with a few new fan spaces expected to debut.

Fans attending the PGA Tour event, which will be held May 1-4, will find a new venue celebrating Korean beauty brands and food, a revamped fan shop with more clothing brands and more.

In a nutshell

The golf tournament has existed since 1968 and officials are excited to host it again in 2025, Tournament Director Jon Drago said. This is the fifth year the tournament is being played at TPC Ranch in McKinney and the second year with CJ Group as its title sponsor.

CJ Group Sports Marketing Director Ethan Kim said they were continuing its commitment to donating $1,000 to the Momentous Institute for every birdie made at the 17th hole. Last year, $76,000 was donated to the institute, he said.

“We hope this tournament brings unforgettable experiences to players, fans and the community,” Kim said.

What’s new

Tournament officials are debuting two new venues for fans at this year’s tournament
  • House of CJ: An indoor venue open to the public featuring Korean entertainment brands and food.
  • The Green on 17: Located on TPC Craig Ranch’s 17th hole, attendees can explore shopping opportunities from different vendors. Proceeds will benefit Momentous Institute.
Also new this year is a revamped fanshop experience. Tournament officials signed a one-year deal with the PGA Tour Fan Shop as its official merchandise provider. Fourteen different brands will be available including Adidas, Lululemon and Under Armour.

This year’s tournament will also introduce two new fan experiences. One is a youth program called “Byron’s Buddies” for kids between 5-12 years old. The program offers on-course activities, exclusive viewing areas and more.

The second is called the 1968 Club and is an exclusive ticket package that grants access to exclusive areas and privileges.

Officials have placed several mental health themed photo activations across the course as part of Momentous Institute’s “Squeeze the Day” campaign.

Returning exclusive spaces include the Choctaw Club and Champions Club which has been relocated to the 17th hole. Mi Cocina will return and additional concessions will be located throughout the course.

The impact

The tournament is hosted by the Salesmanship Club of Dallas and exists to raise money for the Momentous Institute, a mental health organization that offers support for children and families across the U.S. and the globe.

Since 1968, the tournament has raised more than $190 million for the institute.

“Most of you here know why we’ve been doing this since 1968 and that’s really for one purpose only,” Drago said. “That’s to raise money for kids and families here in North Texas.”

Proceeds benefit Momentous Institute’s ability to offer therapy sessions for Texas children, its elementary school in South Dallas, and more, said Dr. Jessica Gomez, executive director at the institute and clinical psychologist.

“Mental health is what we are all about and I know we’re going to play some really good golf this week and see some great action on the green and have fun with our ‘Squeeze The Day’ campaign but remember we are literally changing lives together,” she said.
