CASA of Collin County celebrated its 30th anniversary with a ribbon-cutting and proclamation ceremony Sept. 14. McKinney officials and Collin County representatives gathered at CASA of Collin County, located at 101 E. Davis St., McKinney, to honor the work CASA does for children in the community.

CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, are assigned to children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. These advocates act on behalf of children in court to place them into a permanent home that serves the best interest of the child.

Renovations began in 2019 to create a more open work environment with an expanded training space. The renovated area was set to be unveiled in 2020 but was delayed when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March, officials said.

“We’re very happy that everyone is here today to celebrate with us this new space. It's a new renovation and a new us continuing to do the work that we do serving these children,” said Tricia Clifton, executive director of CASA of Collin County.
