Of that total, 779 cases remain active while 711 people have recovered, according to the county.
Public health officials also reported the county's 34th death on June 8. A Denton man in his 60s who tested positive for coronavirus and had been hospitalized has died.
"Please continue to share your thoughts and prayers with this individual's friends and family members," Denton County Judge Andy Eads said in a news release. "COVID-19 remains deadly, and we urge you to take the public health precautions of social distancing and mask utilization seriously as our community reopens."
Since June 1, Flower Mound has had two more confirmed cases of coronavirus, bringing the total to 56, according to the county. Highland Village, which has had no new cases in the past week, remains at 15 total cases. Lewisville has added 31 new cases since June 1, bringing its total confirmed cases to 311 as of June 8.
Denton County health officials will hold a free drive-thru COVID-19 testing center from 8 a.m. to noon June 9 in Denton. The center will be at the University of North Texas' Union Circle parking garage at 350 S. Welch St. Testing is open to those experiencing symptoms as well as those who have been symptomatic within the past seven days. All essential employees are also eligible for testing. Preregistration is required by calling 940-349-2585.
Health officials in Denton County reported 484 hospital beds occupied with coronavirus and non-coronavirus cases in the county and 373 beds available on June 8. ICU beds were 47% occupied on June 8 with another 70 beds available. The county also reported having 90 ventilators available and 18 in use.
