Live Christmas trees can be dropped off at the Lewisville Lake Park soccer fields near Lake Park Road and North Mill Street to be recycled into mulch. Trees can be dropped off starting Dec. 6 through Jan. 14, according to a Lewisville news release.
Recycling Christmas trees helps reduce waste, extend landfill life and provide useful compost while also saving money, according to the release.
Before dropping off a tree, the tree must be stripped of nails, wire, ornaments, lights and tinsel, according to the release. Free mulch will be available at the drop-off site Dec. 27-Jan. 31. The mulch is suitable to use in yards, gardens, walkways or for livestock bedding.
The program is sponsored by Keep Lewisville Beautiful, and Lewisville Parks and Recreation. For more information, call Keep Lewisville Beautiful at 972-538-5949 or the Lewisville Parks and Recreation Department at 972-219-3550.
