The city of Keller approved a bid for a 10-foot wide, 1,850-foot long hike and bike trail connection between Woodborough Lane and Roanoke Road during its regular council meeting June 17.

What you need to know

The existing Mount Gilead and Roanoke Road Hike and Bike Trail Connection along Mount Gilead Road will be extended to the east another 1,350 feet, then north another 500 feet, according to city documents.

Decatur, Texas-based Tejas Cutters LLC submitted the lowest of fifteen construction bids the city received May 15 at the price of $566,969.22, according to city documents.

Funds for the contract will come from the Parks Capital Improvement Project Fund and funding for construction of the trail will be provided by the Keller Development Corporation Fund, city documents state.


The backstory

Keller City Council approved a contract to design the trail in October 2024, according to previous reporting from Community Impact. The total cost for construction is estimated at $1.06 million.

The two proposed segments on Mount Gilead and Roanoke Road have been on the Hike and Bike Master Trail Plan for more than two decades, according to city documents.



Also of note

Keller City Council also approved a site plan for professional office space on two lots totaling nearly 10.8 acres along Bear Creek Parkway West and Chisholm Trail.

The approved plan places two buildings at the first address and four buildings at the second lot. At least one building will include a forklift rental area.

City Council first approved this planned development for FLEXD in December 2024. All six buildings can house up to 40 tenants total.
