The details
For the 2026 data, 901 hospitals nationwide submitted detailed data about their labor and delivery services, which is how U.S. News & World Report collects information to make its analysis.
Texas Health Alliance was one of 31 hospitals in the state to earn the honor.
“Texas Health is committed to delivering exceptional, comprehensive care for mothers and newborns. Clinical excellence is our highest priority,” CEO of Texas Health Barclay Berdan said. “Our dedicated care teams work tirelessly to ensure safe, high-quality care and outstanding experiences for families across North Texas.”
The ratings are designed to help parents make informed decisions on where to have their baby for an uncomplicated pregnancy.
The backstory
U.S. News began evaluating maternity care hospitals in 2021. The Best Hospitals for Maternity Care ratings look at how well hospitals perform in childbirth using C-section rates; newborn severe complication rates; routine vaginal birth after cesarean delivery (VBAC) rates; best practices to support breast milk feeding; whether a hospital meets federal criteria for "birthing-friendly" practices; and whether a hospital tracked and reported disparities in outcomes, according to U.S. News's website.
