The details
Williams has served as assistant chief of police in Roanoke since July, when he transitioned to the position after serving as chief of police in Bedford, according to a city news release.
He started his law enforcement career in Bedford in 1996 and began working with the North Richland Hills Police Department in 1998, working his way up the ranks.
He is Roanoke's seventh chief of police, according to the release.
Williams holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Dallas Baptist University and a TCOLE Master Peace Officer certification.
The release states that he is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration School of Police Supervision and the Police Executive Research Forum Senior Management Institute.
Williams takes over for Jeriahme Miller, who is now Roanoke's assistant city manager and director of public safety. Miller had been working in tandem as police chief and assistant city manager since March 2023, according to previous Community Impact reporting.
