The city of Fort Worth is collaborating with the North Central Texas Council of Governments to develop an air quality improvement plan and is asking for feedback from residents.

According to a city news release, government officials’ goals for the plan include:
  • Creating a roadmap to improve air quality
  • Protecting public health
  • Reducing the impacts of extreme weather events
The news release states that funding to develop this plan was made available by the Environmental Protection Agency’s climate pollution reduction grant.

The North Central Texas Council of Governments is a regional planning agency created to bring individuals and local governments together, and to support a variety of issues across North Texas, the news release states.

Residents can provide their feedback on various projects and strategies they would like to be considered as a part of the plan two different ways, according to the news release:
  • Survey: Residents can go online and take a survey.
  • Open house: Several open houses will be hosted by NCTCOG in the coming weeks. The one in Fort Worth will be held Jan. 18 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Hazel Harvey Peace Center for Neighborhoods, Room 105, 818 Missouri Ave., Fort Worth.
According to the news release, each open house will feature a short presentation summarizing the planning effort and air quality challenges in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Attendees will also have an opportunity to share ideas with government officials, as well as take the input survey.
