Northwest ISD reminds district residents of inclement weather procedures

As the potential for inclement weather approaches with the winter season, Northwest ISD officials are reminding residents of the district’s procedures for possible school closings.

According to a district news release, one of the most important aspects of this process is that if no announcement is made, schools are operating on their regular schedules. However, if schools need to be closed, the district will communicate closures by 5 a.m. of that school day.

As safe roadways are critical to making the decision regarding closure of schools in the event of inclement weather, the news release states district transportation and maintenance staff drive roads across all major areas of Northwest ISD to monitor conditions. In addition, district leaders meet with the regional weather-response services for guidance.
