The Northwest ISD Legacy Wall serves two purposes:
- Honors individuals who have left a positive mark on the district
- Serves as an inspiration for other teachers and staff to do the same
On Aug. 22, 2022, the Northwest ISD board of trustees approved the inaugural class of the district’s Legacy Wall as it was unveiled the same year. Executive Director of Communications Anthony Tosie said that nominees are solicited from the Northwest ISD community for individuals who have left a positive mark on the district.
Tosie said that nominees are evaluated by the district’s regular facility naming committee—which also serves as the Legacy Wall committee—based on their contributions to the district. Those recommendations are then taken to the Northwest ISD school board for final approval.
Tosie said that the naming process has been closed since the inaugural class was selected. He added that district officials will likely open it in the fall.
Quote of note
"We started the Legacy Wall because we have a tremendous history of amazing teachers and supporters of education in our district, and we want to honor that legacy,” Tosie said. “As Northwest ISD continues to grow, we always want to recognize our roots and appreciate the community we serve, and we believe this is a great way to stay grounded in our core beliefs as a school district.”
