The Northwest ISD board of trustees voted Aug. 8 to renew contracts with the city of Roanoke, the town of Trophy Club and Wise County to provide school resource officers.

Trophy Club will provide two school resource officers while Roanoke and Wise County will each provide one.

Each comprehensive high school will continue to have at least two school resource officers, and each middle school and Steele Early College High School will continue to have at least one school resource officer, according to Anthony Tosie, executive director of communications for NISD. The officers also assist at the district’s elementary schools, he said.

The board voted to have the three entities choose their school resource officer to build more community engagement.
