Permits have been filed for a November construction start date on a Roanoke senior living facility, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The breakdown

Watermere on Oak Street, which will be located at the intersection of Oak Street and Dorman Road, will cost an estimated $80,911,959 to build, according to the filing. Construction is expected to start Nov. 1 and finish by the end of May 2028.

The 10.85-acre development will have six buildings. Two of the buildings will be apartment-style and have 252 units, while four buildings will house 14 villas, according to previous reporting. The units will consist of one-, two-, and three-bedroom options, along with 2,000-square-foot penthouses.

The 55-and-older community will cater to independent living, assisted living, short-term living and memory care, according to previous reporting.

There will be amenities such as a pool, community kitchen, lounge space, clubhouse, courtyards, pickleball courts, a salon and a fitness center, said Andrew Chapin, vice president of Integrated Real Estate Group, the property owner and developer for the project.

The backstory

Roanoke City Council approved the construction of the senior living facility during its April 8 meeting.

Integrated Real Estate Group will also be developing a 30-lot subdivision that abuts Watermere on Oak Street, although there is no age restriction to live in this community.
