Upgrades at Keller Sports Park are on schedule to be completed January 2026, city officials said.

Latest update

The most recent renovations range from roadway and landscaping upgrades to new amenities and facilities. Rachel Reynolds, Keller’s communication and public engagement manager, said the equestrian area of the park with an arena will open in mid- to late July along with renovations like a new restroom, storage building, press box and parking lot.

The city has also installed synthetic turf for the baseball fields and constructed a parking lot for the soccer area.

The background

Keller Sports Park was first constructed in the ‘90s and started with the equestrian arena, Director of Community Services Cody Maberry said.

“Some components of [the park] were in need of an upgrade, being some of the oldest facilities in the city,” he said.

In 2021: Keller City Council created a task force for local youth associations to provide input on the expansion project, Mayberry said.

In 2022: Keller City Council approved a design contract for renovations at the park, according to previous Community Impact reporting.

In 2024: Construction at the park started, Mayberry said.

Construction has cost the city more than $40.6 million, which has increased from previously estimated costs with the addition of a splash pad, community lawns and additional street and parking lot repaving.

Reynolds said a 15-year debt payment for $28 million of the project started fiscal year 2024 and will run through fiscal year 2038. She said the rest of the balance comes from various funds, including the Keller Development Corporation.

“A lot of thought and a lot of discussion went into the improvements that were decided upon,” Mayberry said.

What’s next

The existing baseball fourplex is expected to be demolished soon, Reynolds said. Road work is expected to be finished October 2025 and the baseball and softball fields are expected to be completed November 2025, according to previous reporting.

Keller Sports Park is scheduled for a ribbon cutting ceremony January 2026.
