A closer look

A news release states that the beef and pork comes from Outpost 76 Cattle Company, a 1,100-acre ranch in Sulphur Springs, Texas. The Outpost 76 Cattle Company is home to 1,500 head of cattle—Angus, full-blooded wagyu, and F1, often referred to as “Texas wagyu”—as well as roughly 600 heritage breed pigs that cross Berkshire boars with Red Wattle, Large Black and Duroc sows. The company’s Angus recently won grand champion in the Triple Crown Steak Challenge.

In addition to supplying its sister restaurants Outpost 36 and Horizon 76 American Grill House with beef and pork, the news release states that Outpost 76 also serves diners at hotels such as JW Marriott, Gaylord Texan, and Ritz-Carlton among other top dining destinations in Dallas-Fort Worth.

While the new shop is inside the Outpost 36 restaurant, the news release states that Outpost 76 has its own entrance facing South Main Street. The operating hours are separate from the restaurant as well: 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Monday, closed Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday.

Quote of note

“We’re cutting out the middleman,” Manager Jordan Ross said. “This is the only retail location for our meat; the only other place you can get it is high-end restaurants and hotels.”
