Tornado sirens alerted Grapevine residents of incoming storms on two different occasions Dec. 13. In the wake of the storm, numerous businesses and residential areas were impacted throughout town.

According to the city of Grapevine, Oncor reports up to 8,000 customers were without power in the morning, but crews have been making repairs all day, and that number is decreasing each hour. As of 4:30 p.m. Dec. 13, 3,729 customers were still without power. The REC of Grapevine opened as a shelter for people temporarily without power, so they could charge devices or medical equipment. The REC will remain open until 10 p.m. Dec. 13—or as needed.

Grapevine fire units traveled through neighborhoods to assess further damage, according to the city. Grapevine police will add extra patrols and security to impacted businesses to ensure property remains protected overnight. Several neighboring agencies, including Bedford, Colleyville, Coppell, Euless, Flower Mound, Haltom City, Southlake and Watauga, provided help in response to storm damage. Euless and Coppell units were providing coverage of Grapevine Mills, which was closed due to damage.

A website has been created for storm and recovery updates. Anyone who has storm damage to their home or business is urged to file a report with the Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool.
