The primary terminal for international travel will get additional security check-ins and screening options.
Swinerton Builders was selected to add two lanes to the central passenger screening checkpoint, 19 self-service bag drops and 42 self-service check-in kiosks. The $8.6 million contract started late last year and has a 390-day construction window.
Additional security checkpoints will help improve customer experience, meet the demand of international passengers and support the first phase of Terminal F, which is still under construction, according to documents.
Airlines that use Terminal D include American Airlines, Volaris, Viva Aerobus, Sun Coast Airlines, Qatar Airways, Air France, AeroMexico, British Airways, Emirates, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Lufthansa, Qantas and Avianca.
Zooming in
During the Jan. 8 DFW board meeting, an amended contract with Allied Universal Security of Irving was approved for unarmed security and gate attendant services throughout DFW Airport.
The revised amount of $1.25 million was approved for future airport projects and the support may be temporary or permanent, according to meeting documents.
The current contract with the Irving-based business expires Jan. 14, 2027, and the new adjusted total is $30.65 million.

A filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows an additional $400,000 project for Terminal D.
The project details features relocation of offices, a new escalator, relocation of public exit on concourse level and installation of Scarabee checkpoint lanes. The estimated construction start date is Feb. 1 and with an estimated completion date of April 1.
Another filing with TDLR shows two concession spaces will be constructed at the arrival entrance at Terminal D. The $300,000 project will include a spot for currency exchange and another will be a Dallas Cowboys apparel store. Additional finishes to both spots will be filed later, according to state documents.
The project is slated to start on April 1 and be finished April 1, 2027.

The CNBC News located in Terminal A and Terminal E has rebranded to Travel@Ease after the termination of licensing rights Dec. 31, according to airport documents.
