From a new cardiology facility, patient safety ratings and advanced certification in spinal surgery, check out three updates from area hospitals in Grapevine and Southlake.
Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Grapevine
Construction on a new cardiology facility at Baylor Scott and White could wrap up in November, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The estimated cost for the facility is $10.8 million.
The project, which is located at 2040 W. SH 114 in Grapevine, includes renovating more than 16,000 square feet to accommodate an ambulatory surgery center.
Methodist Southlake Medical CenterMethodist Southlake Medical Center earned an “A” rating from independent hospital watchdog The Leapfrog Group for its patient safety, according to a news release.
The rating is calculated as part of a biannual survey that evaluates evidence-based metrics, including errors, accidents, injuries and infections. The Southlake hospital was one of four in North Texas to receive the rating, joining Methodist Richardson, Methodist Charlton and Methodist Mansfield.
Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital SouthlakeTexas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southlake received the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for its advanced certification in spinal surgery. The Joint Commission toured the hospital in October and awarded the two-year certification in December.
The hospital performs more than 300 spinal surgeries annually, according to a news release. To receive the certification, the hospital had to successfully treat at least 200 patients, follow established clinical guidelines and procedures, collect performance measurement data, and participate in a national spine patient registry.
