The Southlake Open Rewards Program will be rolled out for the third year Feb. 1.
Dylan Duque, Southlake's economic development and tourism specialist, provided details on the cash-back savings program during the Jan. 6 council meeting.
The program debuted the program Jan. 22, 2023, which provided 5% cash back through shopping, dining, shopping and entertainment at Southlake businesses through an app called Open Rewards.
The details
The city has allocated $100,000 for the program in 2026, the same amount as last year, according to Duque. The city has seen a total economic impact of $3.5 million over the last two years from the program.
“We are looking at getting people back in some of the stores and out here shopping again after the Christmas season,” he said.
Year two of the program showed a big increase in people claiming rewards who were not Southlake residents. In 2024, Southlake residents claimed 96% of the rewards, while that number featured 49% of Southlake residents in 2025. Duque said that the number was gathered by users who enabled location sharing.
A closer look
He said there will be 365 businesses that are taking part in this year’s program, which will run into late spring or until the city has exhausted $100,000 in rewards claimed. That is slightly down compared to the 2024 numbers of 390 businesses, according to previous reporting.
Duque said one of the changes is the reward balance, which will show a reward balance, which is 100 points equals $1. The presentation showed that 500 points in reward balance equals $5.
The Open Rewards app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
