A five-restaurant development could soon be filled out after a necessary permit was approved.

The conditional-use permit for the planned Grapevine location of Chicago-based Portillo’s was approved by Grapevine City Council during its Feb. 20 joint meeting. The restaurant will be located at 460 W. SH 114.

Two-minute impact

The approved permit would allow the Portillo’s to store and sell beer and wine at its Grapevine location, according to city documents. Once complete, the restaurant is expected to have 160 seats between its indoor and outdoor seating areas.

Portillo’s is known for its hot dogs, hamburgers and shakes, according to its website. Amanda Schwerin, a property development manager working for Portillo’s, said it will be the chain’s fifth store in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Portillo’s has 84 stores across 10 different states, Schwerin said.

What’s next?

The opening of Portillo’s is still likely several months away with a planned opening in late 2024.
