A 60-foot Christmas tree was lit at 7:30 p.m., while Santa made appearances at three different locations during the four-hour event.
According to the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau website, more than 1,400 festive Christmas events take place over 40 days, transforming Grapevine into a storybook destination.
What happened
There were some new events at this year's Carol of Lights, including Santa’s Racetrack and the Frozen Fun zone, which had bounce houses and a snow hill.
Photos with reindeer and Santa were free for visitors at different locations. Photos with Santa will run daily from Nov. 28 to Dec. 30, but it will be closed Dec. 24-26.
What to expect
The Merry & Bright Christmas Drone Show is scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 1 and Dec. 8. There will be 400 drones in 12 custom formations near Main Street and Northwest Highway and near Main Street and Dallas Road, according to previous reporting.
The 46th Annual Parade of Lights will be held Dec. 4 and will feature more than 100 lighted floats and marching bands from area schools, according to the CVB website. The parade’s theme this year is Storybook Parade, and it will start at 7 p.m.
The Christmas market at Cotton Belt Railroad Historic District, 705 S. Main St., will be open daily from Nov. 28 to Dec. 23, as well as Dec. 27-30.

A day after the opening event, Newsweek announced that Grapevine was the Best Christmas Town, as determined by a readers’ choice award. This recognition celebrates the destinations, attractions and experiences most loved and recommended by Newsweek readers across the United States, according to a news release.
According to the Grapevine CVB website, the city won the award in 2024, as well.
