Carroll ISD amends bus driver compensation for 2026-27

Carroll ISD officials are amending the compensation plan for bus drivers and aides for fiscal year 2026-27.

Trustees unanimously approved a rate increase of $1 per hour for bus drivers and aides at the May 18 meeting.

The updated compensation plan will affect all employees, CISD Director of Transportation Jim Bennett said. Trustees previously approved a compensation plan that included guaranteeing 30 additional minutes of work for bus drivers and aides, but Bennett said it would not affect employees who staff the district’s longest routes equally.

“This plan allows all of our drivers to get something, compared to leaving 30% of our drivers out,” Superintendent Jeremy Glenn said.

With the changes, the starting pay for a new driver would be $24 per hour, Bennett said.

What else?

The only changes for the 2026-27 compensation plan were made for drivers. The $1 per hour increase comes in lieu of the guarantee of additional work hours, CISD officials said.
